Sidney Tushingham (1884
to1968), was an English
painter and etcher specialising in rustic scenes or village life.
He attended the Royal College of Art in London. Born in Burslem,
Stoke-on-Trent, England, which was where he started as a china
painter in 1905 at the age of 14. He attended the Burslem School of
Art and entered in Royal College of Art in 1905. He worked as vase
painter at Royal Doulton during 1922 whilst he established his
career as a society painter. He also became known for his etchings
of pre-war Britain, Italy ( particularly Venice) and Spain. He
produced more than 100 etchings of Britain, Italy and Spain between
1919 and 1934.He died in Haywards Heath, West Sussex in 1968.
