Sussex  Map
James Pigot & Co's county maps were issued in their British Atlas , in several national and local business directories , and  in folding format as travelling maps. Amongst the first maps to be printed from steel instead of copper plates, allowing more accurate  detail . Atlas and directories went through several editions  to c.1857, later editions from 1846 re-named Slater's New British Atlas, with imprints changed accordingly. Baynham Abbey
from John Coney, Views of English Abbeys & Cathedrals. London, 1829.John Coney: John Coney was first apprenticed to an architect but chose to follow a career in the arts. In 1815 he published his first work, a series of eight views of Warwick Castle, drawn and etched by himself. Brought to the attention of the artist and illustrator, James Duffield Harding (1797-1863), in 1815 he employed Coney to work upon a large series of etchings depicting exterior and interior views of the cathedrals and abbey churches of England. This massive project occupied Coney for the following fourteen years and the completed etchings and engravings were published in 1829 under the title of Views of English Abbeys and Cathedrals. There was only one edition which is now scarce. Each map measures about 211Ž2 cm x 141Ž2 cm (h x w) £30 unmounted

Morden was an accomplished cartographer and the first to show longitudes measured from the meridian of St. Paul's Cathedral.
