Brightling Observatory

by J M W Turner for Cooke's Picturesque views of the Southern Coast of England and Picturesque Views of England and Wales. The latter was first published in 1827/8 and was the first main publication to include Turner's work. £22 Old tint  . .x 3 . . Designed by Sir Robert Smirke  for Jack Fuller in 1810, the Brightling Observatory was completed in 1818. It is located on the Brightling-Burwash road,  and is now a private residence.
