Chromolithographs from The illustrated book of poultry : With practical
schedules for judging, constructed from actual analysis of the best
modern decisions / by Lewis Wright 1838-1905 Illustrations by Ludlow
were in the first
edition 1873 and the second in 1880 .... All are clean
unmarked copies . £45 each inc post and
packaging
....Chromolithograph
prints from the 19th Century. The process was based on lithography
(printing from stone slabs), but extended so that a stone was used
for each color and each seperate color was laid on top of the
previous one.... thus the paper sheet was printed on several times
before the print was finished. Colours were built up in layers on
the final print, to achieve the effect. This required both a number
of stones (adding to the expense) and a very precise method for
laying the stones. These were printed by Vincent and day the
supreme Chromo' printer Some prints have since become very
scarce as nobody now dismantles an almost four figure book unless very
unstable. . Others available in shop
framed and glazed. Mounts are
never charged for ie price does not
alter if mounted..
