Dugdale, Monasticon Anglicanum 1st edn [in Latin] 1655 with engravings
mainly by Wenceslaus Hollar and Daniel King. Many of the engravings
were reprinted in Daniel King's, 'The Cathedrall and Conventuall
Churches of England and Wales', 1672; so from either of these cut
to plate laid paper £45 age toned short margins to

was first apprenticed to an architect but chose to follow a career in
the arts. In 1815 he published his first work, a series of eight views
of Warwick Castle, drawn and etched by himself. Brought to the
attention of the artist and illustrator, James Duffield Harding
(1797-1863), in 1815 he employed Coney to work upon a large series of
etchings depicting exterior and interior views of the cathedrals and
abbey churches of England. This massive project occupied Coney for the
following fourteen years and the completed etchings and engravings were
published in 1829 under the title of Views of English Abbeys and
Cathedrals. SIZE: sheet size: 24 x 18.75 inches; 610 x 480 mm,; image
