margins. Maximilian Joseph Limpach was a Czech
engraver born in Prague, active in the early 18th century. He

print . Uncoloured. Perfection folds as issued no staining full
borders. A clean crisp impression. Size: 39.5 x 27 cm. (15½
x 10½ inches) Nero's vast palace in Rome, built after the
fire of AD65. The palace was legendary, and
responsible for Nero's unpopularity. When the palace was pulled down,
the lake at its centre became the site of the Colosseum. The palace was
buried until the Middle Ages, when artists such as Raphael and
Michaelangelo has themselves lowered into it by rope to admire the
30,000 metres of frescoes. £220 inc

1804).Piranesi, collaborated with the French artist Louis-Jean Desprez
on a series of views of Naples, Rome, and Pompeii, advertised in 1783
as “dessins coloriés” and sold at
Piranesi’s shop in Rome. Although the 1783 advertisement
promised forty-eight views, the series was not completed before Desprez
left Rome to enter the employ of the Swedish king, Gustav III.
