The colored wood engravings (xylographs ) from the History of British Butterlies & The History of British Moths, first published in 1864 by George Bell, London. These exquisite wood engravings, or xylographs, were made from multiple blocks, prepared and printed by Benjamin Fawcett, and based on watercolors of A. Francis Lydon. Contained 71 hand coloured plates, 2 plain plates

Morris wrote the text for books which were financed and printed by Fawcett, and were illustrated by Alexander Francis Lydon (1836-1917). Colour printing showed an enormous improvement on the work of Thomas Bewick (1753-1828). At first wood-engraving illustrations were coloured by hand, but later a system of colouring from multiple wood blocks was used.

***These are from either book and as the main obvious sign is the antennae I am leaving people to decide re Butterfly or Moth . . if crucial will identify but for most who want a decorative print it is not vital***
