by Jan de Beijer (Aarau, Switzerland, 24 September 1703 - near
Kleve, Germany, c. 1780), also given as Jan de Beyer, was a Dutch
draughtsman and painter known for this drawings of towns and buildings
in the present-day countries of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
In total, he produced some 1500 drawings, over 600 of which were
reproduced as engravings by other artists

but trimmed edges, Framed glazed minimal age toning.So-called optical
print in good condition. Attractive print of the Pieterskerk in the
center of Leiden.J. Chereau was a publisher of optical prints,
established in Paris, rue St.Jacques. In the eighteenth and nineteenth
centuries there were many popular specialty establishments in Paris,
Augsburg and London, which produced optical viewing devices and special
engravings to be viewed through them.In the 18th century the optical
print or vue optique came into existence, whose exaggerated converging
lines were intended to produce the optical illusion of deep recession.
The viewing devices for which these perspective prints were produced
consisted of a lens and a mirror, this requiring the use of reversed or
